I think you need to try a dual pattern cam.

I agree, a dual pattern cam will give you more power. I was gonna ?? the 800 CFM, but i see that corrected. And if your gonna run longer ratio rockers, would you please..please.. remember to check the pushrod slot in the heads if you using stock heads! I can't tell you HOW many times i have said that!! The pushrod will hit/scuff/bend! AND HAVE IT REBALANCED! But anyways, the rest looks good. Do you have a head plan? what car is it going in?

I agree, if you want performance, look at ditching any stock head other than the Vortecs or L98's. Some old camel hump 2.02's are ok, but they still suck in the combustion chamber, and the castings aren't as clean nor as refined.

Not saying Vortecs or L98's are all that, but when you say stock head, can't think of anything else you'd likely have that would be even close.

Those Stage I connecting rods already come with ARP bolts.

    Summit's description:
"This set of Summit Stage I rods is recommended for street engines with up to 9:1 compression using pistons with press-fit wrist pins. We magnaflux every rod, then bore size the big-end for roundness and proper bearing/oil clearance. The rods also feature chamfered bolt holes for use with ARP rod bolts (installed). You won't find a better rod anywhere for the price."

I would also look for a dual pattern cam, or better yet...ask Comp Cams what they recommend.

Heads are where its at, so if you can get a good aftermarket set, with today's technology, it will make a huge difference in performance.

In that case you need to build a 302 or 327 and wind it to the moon. With that low of weight, a torquey build like that is a waste of time.

I say build a 327 with forged everything, 12:1 or so compression, maybe a little lower. Aluminium heads, and a HUGE solid roller cam. Redline it at 9,000 or so. Might need NASCAR parts to keep it together, but it'd be a rocket!

dude. . . this is not my life project. . . something out of the junkard, rip out the rear diff, put in a leaf sprung/ladder barred truck ten bolt and this relatively cheap engine with a M20/21/22 or a TH350.

    i repeat. . . NOT something i want to dump 10g into.

I've got a stock forged crank 327 block and crank in my garage, come and get it and it's yours.

No. A stock forged small journal 327 crank and the original virgin unbored block to go with it. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Amazing that two people want it here and I can't give the damn thing away to anyone but the scrap man around here...not to much want for a small journal motor.
