Well I ended up buying that 1989 XJ for $1,100. Pretty sweet deal for a Jeep with 130,000 miles, a 4.0 and a 5-spd. Anyhow, I am in the process of fixing up the little things on the inside that are broken (shifter, seat belts, etc)

Well the last thing I have to fix is the drivers side window crank. THe original crank broke off at the hub. I purchase a new crank but I have NO clue of to get the old one off. I am a manual window newbie, every car I have ever owned has had power everything.

So how do I get this thing off so I can get the new one on...?

    Thanks

    Chris

look at the backside and see if you can figure it out, should be splined with a little clip holding it in place, pull the clip and slide the old off, then i always put the clip on the new, line it up and give it a good smack with the palm of my hand although most manuals don't recommend this, speaking of manuals, you should get one /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Well I never saw any type of clip...but I did get it off...I ended up taking two 3-foot Snap-On Pry Bars and put one on each side and with a quick jerk the handle went FLYING...The new one snapped on with a quiuck hit of my fist... /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gifI guess I may go get a manual one day /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gifNext on the list is the Ghetto fab window tint (not really ghetto but is IS gonna be DARK) and the sound system...I guess I may pull the freaking dents out of the roof too since the prevous owner seems to have either layed this one on the lid OR hit a pretty decent sized elk.. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif
