What OD trans was manual, in a full size truck, in '87?

Am I missing something? SM465 was the only manual transmission available up until the NV35/4500 AFAIK.

If it's an '87 with 465, then yes, the bellhousing will fit. Not sure about the '88-up IFS stuff, maybe on the opposite side though.

there was a 6.2 for sale in the parts forum here a week or so ago, it had the 1-2-3-OD trans. with it. Was this a diesel only option and what is the model number?

Back in the OLD days I think there were some manual OD trannies floating around, but since no one has posted anything about this mystery transmission, or any other known OD manuals used in our trucks, I'm guessing they don't exist.

I believe all our trucks ever had was one 3 speed and two 4 speeds. (the Saginaw and the 465) None of those that I'm aware of had OD, and I believe the Saginaw and 3 speed were dead to these trucks by about 1983.

I had an OD stick-shift in my '86 K10. It had a 305 from the factory and it used a hydro clutch. I'm not sure what kind of tranny it was but I know it had 1-2-3-OD on the shift knob and the shifter looked nothing like the 465's /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

yea this truck had a 305. i think its either a 86 or 87, my friedn says that its a 87.

but i crawled under it yesterday to see if that and the 465 bellhousing were the same and . theres nothing under there /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif just the adapter and tcase. /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

Show me factory literature that shows a 4 speed OD manual tranny, and I'll believe it. I can't find even my '82 manual, but IIRC, it still lists the 465 and the 4 speed saginaw. IF that saginaw was OD then I'll change my mind, but I don't believe it was.

In any case, the 465 is the only manual transmission I've ever seen in any GM service manual after the early 80's.

ill get a pic of the rpo code list next time i go out there

the shifter is straight, bolts to the floor (not a top loader) this is the second truck that I have seen with a 4 speed OD manual trans. both were 4x4, one a 83 the other 86 or 87, both 1/2 ton long box /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

If it exists, could it be a Tremac?

I am looking for an OD manual trans for my K20 project.

The NV4500 is over budget and so is the Gear Vendor. Maybe a Clark 5 speed but Advanced Adaptors says they have no adaptors for Clarks. Anyone using a Clark?
