I spent the last two weekends working on a new carrier and bumper for a bud (undisclosed identity). The carrier was my design, but the bumper was his and I got to say, I like the way the bumper turned out!

Wow! Very interesting. I assume the spare mount unclips and folds down to allow the tailgate to open?

Interesting design having the tire on the front side of the mount. I like it! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

    Thanks!
Here's a pic of my bumper/carrier with a tire mounted. There is a receiver/stinger that is removeable to allow the taigate to fold down. That is a 38" spare. The one above was made for a 42" spare.

I would add wrap around protection to that bumper like you did on yours if he plans on wheeling at all. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

I am guessing that the 60's went for outragous prices since I did not hear back from you.

Shoot me an email I know someone who has a set of axles you might want.

Can you put up a pic of how it looks with the tailgate down? I'm trying to picture it... it just folds down, straight back? Do you have to stand on it to load junk in the back?

I don't have any pics with it down. You can see where it hinges. It drops straight back and down. It rest on the ground and you can use it as a ladder to climb in the back. My 7 year old loves it.

The plate you see on the back side of the carrier is a License mounting plate. You can weld tabs on it for back up lights or if you want brake lights as well. However, if you mounted brake lights on it you would blind any semi drivers that may be behind you. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif Because they may be the only drivers that could see it.

No need for the wrap around protection in a swamp, they'd probably act like hooks grabbing brush. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

You could use the influence of the Force to persuade him (that plus I found that if you flood him with email begging, pleading and rambling he will build you one). /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
