I just took my doors off today...I've been told that it's legal in Cali as long as you have some kinda side view mirror....Any truth to this? Or should I bolt them back on to keep the CHP off my back? /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Get on of those stick on wide angle mirrors and stick on the door jam. Never had the cops say anything about runnin' door less in my CJ7. But it had mirrors mounted to the windshield frame.

2 mirrors.....The rear view mirror on the windshield and one on the drivers side right? Even if I have to put one on the passenger side....No big deal. I'm just curious if it's legal to run with out the doors. I know I see Jeeps running doorless all the time.... /forums/images/icons/confused.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

You don't need a passenger side mirror. All you need is a rearview and driver side (I'll double check my vehicle code in the morning).

As far as other issues, if I remember Mr. CHP instructor, as long as the body has a lip or some kind of barrier at the bottom where the door meets the floor so stuff don't go rolling out such as the body has the lip on Jeeps, you're legal. I will double check in the morning.

California law states that you must have 2 mirrors. You can have either a driver sideview mirror and a rearview mirror or both driver and passenger sideview mirrors or a passenger sideview mirror and rearview mirror. If you have tinted windows behind the drivers seat then you must have a sideview mirror on both sides of the vehicle.

Its kinda butch but you could just stand a peice of 1X4 along the door opening from the side wall of the bed to the kick panel by your feet to get you by.

I think I'm gonna grab some sheet metal from work and bolt a piece on there. Just have to cross my fingers and hope I don't get pulled over between now and then. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Make sure you at least roll the upper lip so it wont filet your leg should you fall on it or scrape across it.

I take it you work in a machine shop.

OOOOH the stuff I would make if I had an endless metal source. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Id use something narrow and tall. (like 3-4 inches.) The sheetmetal would be fine as long as you roll a lip on it.

Now exactly a machine shop...I'm a welder/fabricator for a company that makes trailers. I made my front bumper with metal from the scrab bin and got it powder coated free. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif The bumper is to frickin big though. We just got a $5000 hydraulic bender, so I'm probably gonna make somethin alittle smaller and lighter with that. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

You suck. By any chance, you wouldn't be able to get a screaming deal on DOM tubing would you? Did you get my PM? I'm serious about calling CHP. Most of those guys know the CVC damn good, heck one of them got me out of an accident that was my fault just because of the vehicle code and his knowledge. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif
