Hey y'all. Naturally, when I have 4 billion things going on in life, I choose to goof with an OS I know nothing about.

I set up SuSe Linux 7.3 on an old Sony Vaio laptop. Everything seems to work, but I CAN'T LOG ON!!! I must have done something wacky with the passwords. I have a standard set of passwords I use on low-security systems, and I've gone through all of them, none accepted. I could swear I set this box up with a standard password, which is no longer accepted (or it's not what I thought).

I've heard there's a security hole in this version that will allow you to log onto root without a password, then reset the root password.

    Anybody know it?? Dan, Dave?

lol, yeah, about 20 different times and combos...

I ended up wiping it and starting from scratch, it didn't take as long as I thought it would, and this time I was very deliberate entering passwords during setup...

But I am curious about this supposed security hole...

Thanks for the quick reply, too, Dave.
