I have arranged to pick up an S10 in Seattle but part of the deal is I take a chevette with it. Anyone interested in it for free? Or know a steel salvage yard that will take it? I will only be able to take one vehicle back to Oregon with me at once.

Looking online the closest steel yards I could find to Kirkland, WA were:

    Arrow Metals
    Woodinville, WA

    Purdy Co. of Ill.
    Bellevue, WA

Dose it run. It would be a good rally car but not as good as are mercury cougar with power every thing and a stout front bumper and a tree carring roof rack.

The wrecking yards want to charge the guy $100 to pick it up so I get the S10 in exchange for hauling it away... So if anyone gets a chance to stop laughing at least let me know of a good place to scrap the thing /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ok, I know what we can do! 2 weeks from now we should have a Seattle area get together, BBQ or something. I will provide the car for RTI testing! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

If the car runs, donte it to a church or goodwill or salvation army. Great tax write off. If it doesnt... donate it to a school for a fund raiser (I.E. Car bash contest or some such thing) Other than that, I cant think of any steel recycle places in Portland/Vancouver.

"It ran when parked" applies to the Chevette. It's been sitting under a willow tree for 4+ years, so the blue paint is covered in green ooze. PO moved away and abandoned it, didn't leave the key, so the steering wheel is locked. Interior is complete, but mildew has set in. For all I know, it could run again with some work. Definately a parts candidate, the body is straight, glass is good, lenses and trim are there. I suspect you'll either have to break the steering lock or dolly it home, but that's the only issue I can think of.
