i am looking at buying some decent tires at a real cheap
price. any opinions on the following brands

    uniroyal larado m/t ?

    general m/t?

i have a very small budget and i want 35's
the ones i have now are practically bologna skins.
i drive on the highway alot , i use this for offroad,
so i want the aggressiveness of a m/t.

i was thinking about the kuhmo's which are very good.
and they are priced at 118.00 each. the only thing
is that the "tirerack" has four , three at one location
and 1 at another location. they are backordered everywhere
    else.

I seperated the tread on Uniroyls the first time off road. I have pounded on BFG's a 1,000 times harder and never had that happen.
I say BFG's and the reason is they wear like Iron. I ran a set of 32's put about 30K on them and they still had 50% tread. In the long run it's cheaper because they wear better.
Costco sells BFG's. They sell the 35x12.5x15 KM for $147 plus tax MOUNTED, BALLANCED WITH ROAD HAZARD. Be sure to get the price for drive out not just on the tire. Some places charge more then others for the mounting.

    thanks grim
i actually have the bfg's on my s15 ,and love them .
but i cant afford them for my k5, so i have heard
great things about the kuhmo's. i found four of the
kuhmo's where i live and i can pick them up tomorrow
for 126 each. i also have access to free mounting and
    balancing. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Tread on KUMOs is similar to BFGs and like sidewalls as well .Gens and Unis have weaker sidewalls, like street tires. Not big choise in 16s {KUMO}Want new 37 BFG rockkrawlers myself. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Never heard a good word about the Uniroyals, but the Generals have a good strong sidewall. It is two ply, but very thick. Just my $.02.

I had some 33 Durango A/Ts on my truck and they were a good tire they also have M/Ts that a buddy of mine had on his truck and both the A/T and the M/T did good offroad. Smooth ride on the road. I have 33/12.50 Procomp Xterrains now and they are a badass tire i really like them they arent as smooth on the road as some other M/Ts i have had but they are the best ones so far offroad. They are supposed to last anywhere from 45-55,000 miles depending on how often rotated. Kinda high price 187.00a piece but i had money at the time so i got them plus it was a sale buy 3 get 1 free and 16X10 Xtreme alloys buy 3 get 1 free. So i got both free deals. Also Brigestone has a mean lookin M/T Dustin has those they are good tires too i dont remeber how much he got them for but it was pretty cheap. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif www.zombieoffroading.8m.net

A buddy of mine has the regul trail blazer a/t's and he likes them a lot (2nd set) can't beat the price and they have given him pretty good tread life despite all the burnouts, only problem he ever had was when he cut the sidewall on 1 (after rolling the bead) Try searching, I know there was some talk of these on here a few months back.

No Firestones for me. They are owned by Bridgestone who gives large $$$ to the anti-access crowd.
