got my new job in portland so there will be a little commute, plus some tight along-the-curb parking. I wanna cheap little crap car for that purpose. If it gets over 20 mpg, is small, runs good, has a stick (preferably, not required), is reliable etc I'd be interested. Anyone got an old corrola, or civic or something they dont need anymore?

I've got an S10 pickup that gets 20-22 mpg with a TBI V6, 5 spd and good tires. $200 and just needs a wiring short fixed. It is ugly though /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

Just missed me selling my Civic for $50 ran awesome and got 45 mpg.

I know of a 78 Toyota p/u swb 2wd, 20r and a 5 speed, for $300, if your interested let me know and I can hit up my neighbor about it (he offered it to me but I am going to pass we just got a new car).

kw: what is affected by the wiring problem? I mean in my rig (right now) my radio, horn and interior lights dont work... and I really dont care... cause the thing runs and stuff. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I'd rather not get a truck in any case...

jdb: curses, your honda sounds like it woulda been perfect. doh! bummer that I missed it. not really interested in a toy truck at this time.

thanks for the offers guys. Its gonna be about 2 months before I'll be ready to actually buy a commuter car, so if anything "comes up" lemme know!!! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I also have a 1991 Plymouth Acclaim 4 door. It runs decent but could really use a new head gasket and rebuilt head to cut down on oil burning. Body and interior is in good shape, has a few minor dings but good paint. I just hauled the car out to Minnesota but turns out the heater doesnt seem to work to well out there in 20 below weather. Always worked fine out here but never got that cold.

Anyway would be looking to sell it for $1200 give or take to pay it off at this point. It has a new computer, fuel pump, fuel pump relay, several sensors are new, new rear wheel bearings (replaced on side of road coming back from MN/WI once /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif)

free eh? not bad! Ive never replaced a head gasket though... is this the kind of thing an intelligent person with a service manual can figure out? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I really need a rig that isn't gonna need to much work done on it... I mean, starting tuesday Im working 10 hours a day, 5 days a week. Figure the 6th day is for sleeping, and half the 7th getting ready for the next week and I pretty much have no time to work on a car. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Sheesh, college and unemployment sure have made you soft /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif Work for 10.5 hours (including lunch), commute for 2 hours, figure an hour to get ready in the morning... That leaves a good 8 hours for sleep and 2.5 hours for other things each day. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Unless your not getting sleep during the week you dont need to sleep all day Saturday /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

As far as a head gasket on a 1985 Honda Accord, its not the head gasket that is hard. It is the 1500 different vacuum lines you need to keep straight and possibly replace for it to run right. That was the only reason I didnt bother with the one I had when the head cracked... I do still have a brand new alternator and water pump for it though.

anyone? parking sux down at loomis and a tiny little car would be a lot better than my big azz monster truck. Not to mention that gas money is gonna kill me if I drive my rig to work every single day. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Ive pondered gettin one from the paper or something... but would rather get one from a ck5'er or a friend of a ck5'er... cause they prolly wouldnt rip me off and sell me a junk car. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I saw a little mid to late 80's Escort, red 2 door, on 88th St just east of St Johns (like your headed to Home Depot from St Johns on 88th St, its on your right) for $475 obo. Would get you back and forth at least for a little while. I think he also had a Camry of about the same year for sale also. Give them a drive by /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Saw a bargain of a deal today on my way home, late 80 something Sentra for $100 parked on Ward Rd and Fourth Plain across from Ymart, phone # 896-9888. Worth a call /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Dood! One of the guys here at work has an '87 Toyota Camry that he's giving away! /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif The bad part is the front sheet metal is hashed as in needs a chain to hold the hood closed. Anyway, he wants it out of his driveway pronto. He offered it to me and I wuz considering it for a back and forth runner, but we'll be buying a new car soon and I don't want to hassle with getting rid of it. Oh yeah, it needs an alternator too.

    Anyway, it's a thought. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
