Just got back from there, saw half a dozen nice K5's. Now looking at eventually moving up to the north end so would like to learn about the area from someone familiar with it. Anybody live there?

I was up in North Shore (Tahoe City Area) over the 4th of July holiday.

Grey primer....dents in the passenger side, black roll bar.....big, happy black lab sitting in the back enjoying the wind.... /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

I was up there Sunday and Monday. Saw a black, a red and shiny gray but I think I missed yours Greg. Too bad, you have a sweet rig, and with a Lab in it, it doesn't get any better!

Burt4x4: Well, maybe your sister counts! I much preferred the north side, and that's where I'll look for property or house. Do need somebody who can tell me the good and bad of certain areas thru the seasons (traffic, fires, problems with water, sewer, power, politics, etc.)

Ya she is in Cali but on the South side of the lake. The bigest complaint she has is making $$$. Some places are only open during Summer or visa versa. She doesn't have a phone /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif only calls from time to time from her place of work. She claims it is to save money but I think she prefers the isolation it gives her. She loves it there and is all into the native history that surrounds that whole area. Funny thing too is she has a little tiny Honda CRX that she drives year round /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif It seams that if you have a good job lined up then it is a beutiful place to be. VERY seasonal too, so hope you like the seasons!!
    Good Luck

Joe: I'd like to find something on the north side, Preferably in Nevada, but when I drove thru it looked like there was a lot more available once you got past Incline Village, so maybe my first property would have to be on the CA side. Anywhere from Incline Village to Truckee or points in between, or as far as Tahoe City.

South Tahoe is a little too casino for me. I'd like a mountain resort type town (and closer to most of the skiing).

I want to get the real skinny on what people run into nad what to look for with property, that I couldn't find thru general resources. For example, down this way in Idyllwild (a very nice place) there are no water services, they get 100% from rain. So now they are running out and things could get really bad and they have no backup. That's info you may not get from a realtor trying to sell you property.

Anyway, so I thought I would start my research now, and not have to rush it. No real deadline on moving up there, but want to have the property purchased (with or without house) and move it along (either building or renovating then renting out a house) at my own pace until I'm ready to move there full time.

Of course, I'd spend ski season there as much as I could. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
