Hi all. Looking for folks in San Antonio, may need a favor.

I bought an office chair on Ebay, cost me $500 and $49 shipping. The guy selling the chair is a really nice guy, but he was using his girlfriend's bank account, email, etc. A month after the funds cleared my account into the girlfriend's, still no chair. Finally hear from the guy today via email. Girl broke up with him. She was cheating on him. He's a blubbering veg. Now she has my money and I don't have the chair. Needless to say she isn't giving him my money either. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif Sooooo....

Looking for someone that could pick up the chair from the guy and get it out of the fray and to me (I'll pay for your time and shipping), and / or looking for a cop so I can press charges against the girl for theft (or maybe embezzlement). Anybody? /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

BTW, I also posted this in the Lonestar forum.

I hate to say it, but it looks like you've been scammed. It's a classic setup, he's giving you a story hoping that you'll decide that you have no recourse and give up, leaving him with your money. If you paid by check he can be nailed for mail fraud, I think you can contact the the post office about that. Not sure what recourse you have if you paid electronically. Probably you could notify the police department in San Antonio and see if they can do anything.

Contact Ebay... They have their own internal fraud dept. I beleive... From now on use an Escrow service. They have a few listed on Ebay. It's worth the few bucks they charge.

Good idea about the escrow service Larry. Wish I'd known before this. I will contact Ebay, in addition to the police.

Behemoth - yea and it was a deal at $500. Herman Miller aeron chair, retails $900-1200. Oh, well, back to the drawing board to find another...
