    Hey folks,

Well good news, good news... I just got orders to Hill AFB in Saltlake city UTAH. I have a report no later than date of 10 Feb. The stinker is, I have to drive from Wichita Falls Tx, to Goldsboro and pick up the blazer and haul arse to Utah. If anybody lives around there, or has any clubs, please let me know.

Thanks, and looking forward to some fourwheeling meca fun!

So will you be coming up 287 to I-25 and then through Colorado to I-80? If so, ya better make some time to at least slow down and wave as you go though town! [IMG]

There's some cool wheelin' in Utah. I lived in SLC about 20 years ago. Used to wheel just about every weekend. That's the place that got me hooked on the Rockies. [IMG]

As I recall, Hill AFB is closer to Ogden, just north of SLC. When I lived there, they managed to drop a fighter jet into the Great Salt Lake about once a year. [IMG] Ahh, our tax dollars as work. [IMG]

You'll be within a few hours of Moab, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyon, Lake Powell, the list goes on and on. There used to be some great trails up American Fork canyon. You could wheel back into an area that ended in a huge bowl, surrounded by mountains, on the back side of Snowbird ski resort. Had a lot of fun playing in all those mountains around there...

I'm less then 2 hours from that area (and this is where most UT people go to camp, fish etc.)

I worked at Hill AFB as a defense contractor until a couple of months ago when my contract expired. Hill AFB is a great duty assignment if you like outdoor recreation(hunting, camping, fishing, skiing, riding horses, etc.) We live an hour north of Hill in Logan and I'm hunting elk out of our backyard.

If you like the night life...sorry...Utah's drinking laws suck(prohibition). The bar scene is almost non-existant.

Can you say MOAB? Plus there are plenty of other challenging trails in the northern part of the state.

I live in Salt Lake. You will probably want to check out Ogden and Weber canyons as they are close to where you will probably live.

Hill AFB is about 45 min North of Salt Lake. You will find a lot more open space up there than down here.

American Fork which is just south of the Salt Lake Valley has some great trails. Great for summer fun.

Moab is roughly 4 hours away at the speed I drive (slow), probably a little more for you comming from Ogden.

Anyway, welcome to Utah and enjoy.

AF Sent me there right after Tech School..... and i asked where overseas that was?
Once there, got a great appreciation for it! Started with scooters and that got me to 4x4s!
Regreat to say only there about 18 months, and of to the flatlands of Indiana (again, PCS), but sure liked it there!
As said above, it's not a drinking state, but the outdoor side is 2nd to none!
    Enjoy it while you're there!
