I am going to Australia for three weeks in January for school. I was wondering if anyone had been there and had any tips on places to go or things to do. I am going to be in Sydney, Brisbane, O'Reilly's rainforest, Melbourne, and Cairns. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Australia is AWESOME. I spent about 10 days there back in '01. I spent about 12 hours in Sydney and the rest of the time in the Gold Coast area called surfer's paradise. It was AMAZING.

I was over there playing football. Me and my team had a great time there hitting the night clubs, bars, beaches, etc. The area itself was very pretty and the beach was awesome.

I found out about Australia's best beer too. Victoria Bitter. It is the best beer in the whole damn world bar none. Don't let the name scare you, it is not bitter, it is wonderful. It is probably a good thing that they don't import it to the US otherwise I would probably be a drunk.

One other tip for you if you are single. Australian women LOVE American men. :pimp:

Bondi Beach in Sydney is a cool place. It is also a very pretty place. The harbor/wharf area around the Opera House is cool too. Kinda yuppy but over by the bridge there was a pretty decent looking Irish Pub. Looks like a good time could be had in that place. Australian's are really nice people and love to have a good time. They have LOTS of hot ladies over there too.

Another cool place in Sydney is the Olympic area where they had the 2000 games. It is a really nice facility and it is pretty cool. I got to go swimming in the Olympic Pool while I was there. It was kinda cool.

If I can get enough money together someday I plan to return to Australia.

I heve been to Bunburry(sp), Albany, Melbourn, Townsville, Perth, Sydney and Darwin. The best resturant i have ever eaten at was in Bunburry called "The Hogs Breath". I know there are more than one of them down under.
The Casino in Melbourn was ok. There are a few bars and clubs along with lots of shopping there. You could easily spend a whole day there.
In Sydney the place to go was the Kings Cross area and the Olympic area.
The rest of the towns were average.

Oh you also have to try the "VB" Victoria Bitter. Plus if you ship me a case or two while you are down there i will gladly pay you 200% of your cost:D

hehe, Hey Chief, I think theres a bar called Hogs Breath in every Aussie city! I spend some time at the one in Townsville. Good food there too! I had the BIGGEST steak of my life there. We all went to the casino, and I won like -$400 so decided to take the boys out to dinner on some of the winnings. I order a T-bone...and when it comes out, I get a plate and it has a potatoe, veggies and crap....a few minutes later-they bring the steaks, literally a platter size plate each, and they were falling off the edges! It was incredibly cheap too-like $18 a plate! I couldn't eat 1/2 of it, felt bad :frown1: Anyway, enjoy it! its a good time, and yes, VB rocks! DO NOT ORDER A FOSTERS!!!!!! They consider it crap, and when in rome, do as the romans!

Now that you mention it i remember the one in Townsville. The casino there was ok. We all got our rooms comped to us because my buddy was up around $50K...

I was not kidding about paying for the VB either. I wish it was easier to get around here. Do we have any Aussies on hte board. I could hit one of them up for a shipment:D
