my whole cab is torn apart right now so i figure ill start another project. Has anyone done a hand throttle on the 465 tranny. I know of a couple Heeps that have it but didn't ask any ??. I know they use a bicycle hand brake hooked up to a cable (what kind), and i suppose just run it through the firewall as straight as I can, and what can I do to keep it from chafing or getting caught on anything, cause I really don't want it to get caught when I'm on a trail

Have not done mine yet but have looked at alot of them. Rather than the brake lever you might consider the gear changing lever because it stays where you put it. This way if you ever do on board air you can use it to hold the throttle up for running air toos. When I run mine, this winter, I will go down the shifter and up the trans tunnel to the carb. I think this will keep it out of harms way the best and be a cleaner installation. In the mean time try using your E-brake to hold the truck till you can let out on the clutch a little and have you other foot for the gas, that has worked well for me.

I thought I was wrong once,
    but I was mistaken

I used to have one on my CJ5 - I used a vernier throttle off of a water truck, and mounted it to the gearshift.

A vernier throttle is a knob that's mounted to the cable - turning it counter clockwise opens up the throttle, and locks it positive - there's also a little button in the center that allows either a quick open or quick release. pugsley.alloffroad.com

Thats mine, I used a BMX Brake lever with a return spring built into it. I had to make a bushing to mount it on the shift lever. The cable follows the lever down and through the boot in the floor and up to the throttle cable mounting bracket.

The other hand throttle lever you are talking about in the Jeep is made by Rubicon Express, they have them on their site. I prefer one that moves and returns as I squeeze or release it.
