I thought about chopping mine just before the windows toward the front to have like a half-top, it would be much easier to remove then. (I'm 130 pounds) Plus I could always use some kind of soft top material to close off the back. It may sound strange but i wanted to do something different with my rig, I plan on starting with a regular truck roll bar and fabricating a cage from it, and adding a bunch of tube work to make up for rusted out body panels...does this sound dumb?

umm, i have thought about it. but then i decided just to make a bikini top. and sell my top. still need to sell it, and have my buddy build the bikini for it.
but i like that idea better.
chopping the top makes it useless in the future.

    Check out my buddy, <a target="_blank" href=http://community.webshots.com/album/20488503fajNxqXNEZ>Craig's, K5.</a>

He did what you are talking about with a spare top he acquired. It had some cracks in it that weren't an issue for what he wanted to do with it, so he picked it up for way cheap.

You might try searching in the 1st gen forum...there is one over there with some pics. I think it's a cool idea!

I've got two tops for my '73, the normal full top and a cut down 1/2 top. The original was cracked in the back, but the front was good so it made the perfect donor. It is cut off right where the windows start.

What about just taking the windows completely out?
