No, the dealership had the 90-91 V-series as Borge Warner or NP-241, I don't remember wich but not the 205.

  4. After a little research I came up with a range from 1989 - 1995 3500 series trucks ran a Borg Warner 4470 http://www.truckparts-specialists.com/catalog/transfer-case/transfer-case-images/borg-warner-4470.jpg, but they also ran the NP205 til 1991 also and I believe the BW1370 and maybe even the NP241. I think they bought which ever one was the cheapest and went with it.

My uncles 91 4 door, 1 ton, longbed dually 4x4 has a 205, and a SM465. I'll look under it again and see what the deal is with the VSS. Is it part of the speedo hookup on the t-case itself, or under the dash? I know it's a 91, cause I looked at the vin, and the registration.

Yeah, what I'm looking for is a few wires that plug into the tailshaft of the 205, that part is the VSS. Hmmm, I looked under a single wheel auto and no 205, maybe just maybe.

What about locating some part numbers for the VSS system and installing them into the tailshaft?

You would think someone would have the numbers handy somewhere. Someone like the dealership or whatever.

Then take the numbers and get yourself a quote on gmpartsdirect.com for the best prices. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I almost bought a 91 Chevy V3500 single rear wheel, 4 door a while back that had a 205. The truck was equipped as follows:
TBI 350, 4L80E (REAL COOL!), NP205, Dana 60, 14 bolt, 4.10 gears, SRW. This was a regular civilian truck, not a gov't / state / company truck. There was nothing else special about it.

I think the key to getting a 205 application is going to be the 4 door body. I've never seen a 4 door with anything but a 205, while at the same time a 2 door truck might be a 205 or a 208 / 241 set up.

For the record - I didn't buy it because at the time I thought it was too much (even my wife wanted to buy it !). Can someone please pin a KICK ME sign on my back!

Hmmm, maybe it was just the TH400 that didn't come with the 205?

    I have seen an 89 V3500 4 door dually that had a TH400 and a 205 - again a 4 door application.

    Funny, 55WILLYS truck is a 90 K20 Suburban with a 205. I have a friend with a 90 K20 Suburban with a SM465 and 241.

    I'm starting to get dizzy!

Oh, thanks for the sign, it was long overdue according to my wife.

Well, here is a shaft bearing for a "new process 205 transfer case" on a 91 k3500.

maybe with the part number, you might be able to trace down the details about it. *shrug*
