I wanted to do mine but the dealer in Austin doesn't do K5's for some unknown reason(I even took it over without the top on and with no carpet in it[IMG]) There is one in San Marcos(30 mins from Austin) that quoted me 900+ and he had to keep it for at least 2 weeks. [IMG]

    Steve,
When I got The outside sprayed on mine they quoted me around $450 for the inside with me doing the prep work .

Yep..Had it done last summer from firewall to tailgate. Great addition, worth it in sound deadening alone and really easy to hose out the rear after camping etc. No worries about rusting from the inside now. Cost me about 700 CDN up here. I think I got a pretty good deal. I'll try to get some pics up soon....

Have a friend with a K5 that had it done proffesionally for $500.00 CDN. It looks awesome. he had it done in yellow.
We did the inside of the s10 ourselves for $100.00in black. It looks good, hope it lasts.

I got it quoted today by the same body shop that is painting mine... He is going to put a thin coat inside the fenders in the back, floor from tailgate to fire wall. I have to pull the carpet etc. and clean the floor. Total $500 (that includes lining the inside of the top too...)

After I get it back I'm going to put carpet on top... Just using lining for sound deadening.

I guess you're talking about Erik, are you? His looks pretty cool with the bright yellow tub!!

Steve, if it helps any, I got a quote from the Rhino dealer here who & they only quoted me $1000 CDN for the inside (firewall to tailgate) and underside including the wheel wells. I thought that was an excellent price. In the mean time, there'll be no prepwork on mine & very little masking because all their getting is the empty steel tub & a couple of wheelwells.

Steve, If you decide doing it yourself is worth saving some money you might look at "Wurth USA". They have a product called SKS Stoneguard that comes in black, Grey, Beige or White and is sprayed on with a special spray head that they sell also. The product is water based but dries hard & flexible. It is paintable but does not have to be painted and holds up really well under the German cars. The phone number is 1-800-346-4198. I am underside of my tub now and will do the inside and lower rocker panels later when I put everything back together. Bill

  9. I had my 88 K5 "Diamond Lined" in blue about 4 years ago. I had them do the metal part at the bottom of the dash, the lower part of both doors, the entire inside of the tub to include the rockers/door jam area. The bed was done like a truck so it got it where the top sat on it too. I took off the kick panels in the front where the hood pull is and same on the other side, door post panels too. The only ares inside that didn't get squirted was the headliner area, the inside of the topper, upper door panels, upper dash area, window posts. I only did the inner fender wells on the outside and they were black. I had to bring the truck to him completey stripped on the inside and cleaned. I actually helped with the taping to ensure he did exactly where I wanted. The door jams/rocker type areas had to be done thinner than the rest, but worked out great. It looked like a million bucks and had drain plugs too. I paid $600.00, but if I got it in black it would have been $475.00. I think I got one hell of a deal and they did an excellent job. Damn I miss that K5 !!

bill, i have the inside of my k5 lined with the wurth stone guard stuff.
    DONT DO IT!
unless your are going to lay down additional protection. it is VERY thin. i had to place a bed mat in the rear to protect against chipping and scarring.
if i had it to do over again, i would spend the extra money and have it rhino lined.
    good luck,

Robbie, Thanks for the advise. I allready have the stuff so I'll use it on the bottom side and inner fenders and let it go at that. Then use the good stuff on the inside. I think this project will take forever to get done. Thanks, Bill
