The company I work for is opening a new shop down there and I have an opprotunity to transfer.
Just wondering what's it like down there with housing and the cost of living and such.
No wife or kids to worry about so it's just me that will be moving if it happens. And from the way it sounds it's a go.

I plan on retiring near Minden/Gardnerville. I like the area. I almost moved to Reno some years back.

I was raised in Reno Its a good town. Lots to do there. Minutes from great 4 wheeling. Millions of squarwe miles of open land to wheel on. Good fishing , Hunting in nevada is great. Skiing 1/2 hour away, Lake Tahoe just over the hill. Lots of pretty women. When I was single and lived there I was never lonely. :wink1: . Cost of living used to be low there but all those stupid Californians are moving there and Californicating up the place. So cost of living specialy housing is getting kind a high
    But
Its a lot better place to live than Sacramento. Which is the Well used Ass hole of California.

Folsom, Roseville, Auburn, and Granite Bay are all still pretty nice. The area around the AFB is a complete **** hole though. I've done some jobs up in that area and you better be packing several weapons if you want to get out alive.... Although, there are some very friendly massage parlors in that area.... and there is an excellent BBQ over in the southern Sacto area called the Texas West BBQ I believe...

    Thanx for your input.
Having lived in small towns for most of my life that is no concern, Portland is too big for my tastes.
I grew up in Grand Junction Co. so the weather should be no problem.
I'll already have a good paying job if I go and the company will move most of my stuff for me.

I just need a change of scenery and somewhere to start fresh and Reno sounds as good as anywhere else at the moment.
I am stuck in a pretty good rut where I am right now, between my job and life in general it feels like I am going nowhere.
Going to Reno will get me off of this ****ed weekend shift schedual for one, and I will be in a better position to get more training. That and a good chance to get off the floor and into the office.
And with 37 around the corner that's starting to sound pretty good.

I'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Hey, if you do move to Reno let me know and sometime when i'm up there we can meet up. Reno is a nice place but too cold for me in the winter to live there and too hot in the summer also. I do like going there to gamble on occasion though. I am only about 3.5-4 hours away drive time.

LOL I guess so.......... Think I was NUI when I posted that:D. Didn't like reno being called the BH of Nevada...... Apparently you have never been to Pahrump..:haha:
I Always liked Reno It was a great place to grow up and I have many fond memories of the Truckee Medows. But having lived in both Sac and Reno I like Reno way better than Sacram area. Altho Palacerville area is nice.
Reno was always good to me. But It got a little too big for me and I didn't want to raise my kids in a big city. So I moved next door to nowhere.
