There's a few places to wheel. Just dont leave your truck under any circumstances. Scum of the earth people will chop shop it out in the field in record time.

    Benbrook...pm White_Knight
    360
there's a few places by frisco, you might PM DangerB

Most folks pack their stuff up and head out for the weekend though...

    Barnswell out in east texas
    Disney in OK
    Clayton in OK
    Little Sahara in OK
    Hot Springs, Ark

Lots of wheeling to be had near you.

Check out my club's website and forums. We have numerous fullsize rigs and lots of K5s in the group that like to play around here. We have been averaging one big run a month this spring and many guys are hitting local spots every weekend.

A friendly word of advice... I bought my Jimmy my last year of college. It was great for that, but a bit cumbersome driving everyday back and forth to work in Addison after graduation. After I bought my first house (that was my priority), I wanted something new and sporty. That's when I bought my convertible firebird. I didn't really need the cash from the Jimmy to buy the bird, so I decided not to sell it.

For the next 4 years, it gathered a lot of dust. I drove it every once in a while just to make sure it stayed running. Cost me nothing more than some insurance $$ and registration/inspection each year. Not much. Then, 2 years ago, I decided to revive it. That is when it started its transformation from totally stock to not-so-stock!

The family that I now have loves it. We all have a blast wheelin together. Before I bought my new 03 2500HD, we used it rather religiously for camping and other family outings.

Guess the moral here is from my experience, unless you really need the $$, don't get rid of the K5. It probably isn't going to depreciate much more, so time won't really hurt its value. It is low cost to just keep around. And, if later you decided you wanted to get another and start over, you will have to start with a rig that you never know what someone else has done with it.

You gotta do what you gotta do, but think long and hard first. My $.02.

There's 360 (which technically isn't legal to wheel there)

There's a new place that I haven't checked out in Nacona called the Wheelin Ranch. You have to get ahold of the guy first before you go.
Shiloh in Alto, tx (if you like mud)
Barnwell Mountain in Gilmer, tx (place rocks!..not so much mud..more trail stuff)
There's more of a rock crawlin place in Katempcy (sp?) I haven't been there yet.

Most good places are at least 2 1/2 hrs away.
