If so, what shock #'s are they? All 3 different sets (2 up front, 1 rear) if you've got them. Spring front, block rear. Thanks.

I have them on mine. I think they are 5116. I will check at break time and make sure.

I measured the distance at full stuff and full droop and then went and had the guys at ORW find me a shock with that much travel.

Thanks Kieth, I appreciate it. I did my whole crossover - 14bff, d44, 4" lift, 35x14.50's, tranfer case drop, helper spring flip..blahblah this past friday (with only one trip to the hospital on Sunday, post with pics soon) and i bought 5112's for the rear, 5001 and 5118's for the front. WELL, the POS's don't fit up front. The 5001's fit but only have about 1 1/2"s of wheel drop before they're at full extension and the 5118's don't even reach! Unreal. Anyway, thanks and it would be great if you could check for me on lunch.

Thats how mine were. Up front they only have about 1 1/2" of travel before they are fully extended. Seems like it should be more than that.

Re: Anyone using Rancho RS5000\'s with a 4

It doesn't sound right to me. I just got off the phone with Rancho support and he said "yeah, the 5001's will have about 1 1/2"s of droop before topping out and the 5118's will have a little over an inch....but that's not including the compression of the 9/16" busshing inside the shock, which will give another 1/4" I asked if 1 1/2" of drop and 6" of compression cababilty of these shocks with the 4" lift sounds correct, and he said "yeah, because that's the measurement of travel at the shock, not at the wheel" Still doesn't sound right, so i asked if the 5116's would work because i looked at thier lenths and they give 3" more extension and 1 1/2" less compression and he replies "duhhhhh....this may void the warranty if you try going with different shocks blah blah duhhhh" Like i'm real worried about any warranty that rancho probably wouldn't stand behind anyway if there ever was a problem, even IF everything was installed by the book! (venting, sorry) Anyway, I think i'm going to take the 5118's and the 5001's and return them and see if the 5116's will work. Also, they don't use different shocks up front when going mono or doubling up. either the 5001's by themselves or just adding the 5118's, which will basically just make the front a harsher ride, which i'm not looking to do. Probably just go solo shock up front.

    Hey Len,

I just checked mine and I am running the 5116 shocks up front (single only) and the 5126 in the rear. As far as the warranty goes I don't see how they could not stand behind it. Most of the shops I have been to ask for full extension and full compression measurements and then find the one that fits your travel on the trucks suspension. Good luck.

    See Ya,
    Keith

Re: Anyone using Rancho RS5000\'s with a 4

thanks kieth. another funny thing he said was that the 86206 springs of thiers i have in there were made for the early 70's k5's, which were heavier than my '91, even though that's the spring that is correct for my truck for a 4" lift. He says that's also the reason the shock is extended so far..because the truck is sitting higher than the supposed 4" i'm supposed to be getting with the 86206's. I told him the springs were 4 years old and probably settled by now and even though K5's generally sit higher in the front, the truck is sitting dead level right now using thier 4" blocks in the rear. his responce "hmmmm, duhhh.. I don't know, strange" I was sketchy about using Rancho in the first place, and now i know why. Thanks again for the info.

Oh i have them on a 6" lift. I have 2 upfront, 1 on the steering stabalizer and 3 on each back. 2 going up and down and one going horizontal supposedly to get rid of axle hop.
i have like 5" blocks nad add a leafs in the back and MAN DOES IT RIDE STIFF AND ROUGH!!! I want to trade out for straight springs and some procomp shocks since they arent so xpensive! I am having back surgery next week b/c of it. No, really though, Id go for the RSX or 9000's if you wanna go rancho.

I'll check when I get home but I think I have the 5001's up front. I would have gone dual but it's a stiffer ride for more money haha. Anyway. I'm not extremely worried about it being able to flex big time cause I mainly do mud and trails. Very few rocks around here. Let me know what you decide to go with though, just would like a comparison.

I ran the the ranchos for a while and just didn't like the ride. Felt a little loose on the gravel and cut roads. Went to skyjacker hydro on the advice of Chevrules(Jamie) and really like those. ! run9 of them on my rig, 2 out back, quad up front and 3 for steering stabs.
