Just wondering if anyone knows if you can interchange the axle shafts between a Dana 44 and a GM 10 bolt front end. I have sets of both, one set needs u-joints and one set does not. So I want to try and put my old 10 bolt shafts into a dana 44. Any one got any info?

No, they are all different lengths. Check out the measurements below.

    D44: right - 36.13"
    left - 18.31"

    10B: right - 35.46"
    left - 19.15"

The outer stub shafts are interchangable between the two.

Thanks again K30 guy! I could not check the length of my D44 shafts to compare them with the 10bolt shafts because I had to drop them off at a machine shop to press out the original u-joints. (I could'nt get them out!)

All GM Dana 44 fronts have 30-spline inner axles. The majority of 10-bolts have 28-spline inner axles and are slightly smaller in diameter. From about '89-'91 the 10-bolts switched to 30-spline inner axles, but they still will not interchange due to the length difference and also the pressure angle of the splines is slightly different than the 44, meaning you wouldn't get 100% spline engagement if you mismatched a 10-bolt shaft and 44 carrier..or vice versa.
