I plan on installing a GM 14 bolt axle in my Chevy later this month, and I was trying to decide if I should convert it to discs first. The large drums look like they would do an adequate job stopping a truck with big tires. I have 35" tires for it now, but I plan on upgrading to 38's later. So, are rear discs worth the $$$? Thanks for any information.

disc have become so popular that you can do the conversion fairly cheap, so if not for the stopping power ( which the disc will not do any better than the large drums) but for cleaning/maintenence and dropping 65+ lbs. of drums.

It is one of the BEST things you can do! My 77 stopped better than my stock 95 1/2 ton!
