Are 'Add-a-Leafs' + 'HD Front Shackles' ok for a 2.5" Front Lift?

    Are \'Add-a-Leafs\' + \'HD Front Shackles\' ok for a 2.5\" Front Lift?

I'm pretty set on the 2 1/2" shackle flip for the rear and am debating on what to do with the front.

Should I get lift springs; or will Hill's Extended front shackle + ORD's 1" add-a-leaf be ok to lift the front? It's my understanding that lift springs will ride a lot harder then factory, so I would like to keep the factory ones if I can.

With this setup, I should get 2 1/2" in the rear and apx 2 1/4" in the front. My truck sits level now and is stock, so this should be good, right?

Come on guys, someone has to have an opinion on this. I appreciate any and all thoughts on this setup.

I finally got the cash together to get this all done, and have to make purchasing decisions now.

    Hey dude,
Personally I would not go with the extedned shackles unless you plan on using shims to correct the negative camber the shackles will create. I would also be concerned about using a block in the front. Even though it is only an inch and is in the spring pack. I would go with a set of springs. You can get a set that will be close to the factory softness.

Are you sure that 2.5" is all you want long term?

I don't think that the 1" add-a-block is recommended for the front. If you want 2.5" springs, your choice of brands will be limited. You could use the shackles with a shim for 1" in the front and then have the factory springs rearched for another 1.5" This would be another inexpensive route and would only add a little stiffness. I have been kicking around an idea to make a custom leaf pack using the top leaf from the existing front pack and combine it with 2 or 3 leafs from a set of late 80's stock rear K-5 springs. It would be flexy and cheap, but it might require a bit of trial and error to get it right.

I definately recommend a shackle flip in the rear over a block. Be aware that there is no way that a shackle flip won't affect your pinion angle, so be prepared to put in a shim or something.

    Cool! Thanks guys.

I guess the 2" EZ Ride Lift Spring coupled with ORD's HD Front Shackle will work. This will give me the 2 1/2" I'm looking for.

2 1/2" is all I want for a suspension lift. When I'm done here, I should be able to put 33's on there with no problem. Then in the future, I could do a 2" body lift and throw 35's under it .......... I dunno, we'll see.

Also, with only 2 1/2" suspension lift, I shouldn't have to do too many other mods ......... like Steering arm, Drive Shaft lengthening, etc ...... might have to shim the X-Fer case? but maybe not.

Now your thinking better, please don't try to get 2 1/2" suspension lift in the front with shackel extenders and a 1"
block(even the one inch ORD zero-rate leaf), it can be done, but in your case I would not reccomend it.
In you case get some new leaf spring up front, this I reccomend.
Happy hunting for the right spreings up front, they are out there you havr to find them.
    Good luck
