Are International diesel engines good?

    We're getting a 330HP(low speed) International motor to put in our fishing boat...just wandering what the diesel people think bout them engines???

    Low revers(1700-1800 max rpm)

    Ford Powerstroke Diesels are International motors.

    Im talking about a 56000$ engine...about the price of a F-350 :D

    I think with a top end of 1700 RPM you better have one hell of an aggressive prop.

    Are you fishing the lakes or the atlantic? IH made good tractor engines way back and some of those people are still there at IH so I wouldn't worry about it. How big is the boat? I'm guessing 45ft or more.....

    Are you getting a 570? Now that is an engine! Those are torque monsters. Something like 1000 LBS at 2200 RPM . Would be great for a big motor yacht or trawler.

    Our boat is 45 foot long,15 feet wide at the stern in a fiberglass mold with a thickness of 5/8 of an inch.

    Transmission is gonna be a Twin-disc 3 to 1 gear reduction...For the props im not sure but i know they gonna have some crazy diameter/pitch.
