I'd go for it... I love backhoes, I think it would rock to have one I could just drive around without having to go through the whole trailoring or 20-mph routine.

    Nothing new!--but cool!

I know a farmer who had a "flat fendered" jeep from WW2 he bought at an army surplus auction--it had a PTO,and it came with a hydraulic pump,a backhoe, and a post hole digger, and a hydraulic winch!--he claimed to have paid 800 bucks for it--I thought that was a steal!--it looked like new, like it had hardly been used at all...he used it on the farm a lot!--the first time I saw it,he was lifting a dead cow up so they could butcher it! :frown1: --I didnt hang around very long..

There's two problems that I can see:

    1. Lack of front counterweight. If the hydraulic setup has any power at all, that whole unit is in peril of flipping, regardless of rear stabilizer legs.

    2. What motor runs the hydraulic pump? The little Jeep engine? Gas powered excavators are just dogs.

I *think* that's either a hydraulic fuel tank or a fuel tank. Maybe the sucker has it's own little diesel motor?

BTW, a propane powered backhoe would have about the same digging power as a propane BBQ.:rotfl:
