Are there bigger tires for 16\" rims

Does anyone know if there are tires bigger than 38" for a 16" rim. Anyone have an inside contact with the scoop?

I've never heard of one. I wish. It would be nice to run a rim that can hold a bead and fit over a Dana 60 with big tires.

i believe the Michelne (sp?) tires that are used on the Ultimate Adventure Super Duty come in a 16" rim. or that is what one guy told me who was into serious muddin'.

skinnier tire, he says, but they dig good

(not my expereince, just a story i heard 'round the campfire /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif )

Those tires were on a 20" rim. They do admit to a 325/85R16 or about a 38.7x12.9. It might be worth looking into.

Would probably be better off by staying w/ the 13/38/16 Swamper than the Michelin. The Michelin's have a hard tread compound and the sidewalls are vey stiff.

<font color="green"> Here is what I found in the Michelins -

the XL - available in 11.00R16, 10.6 inches wide, 38.7" tall.

The XML, available in 325/85r16, 12.9" wide, 38.7" tall.

There were a couple of others, but smaller than these.</font color>

    yes, and that means milage

If you siped them really good, and ran them at uber low PSI a few times, they would get soft enuff.

    the michelins are radial
are you trying to compare a bias to them?

those pics are form the michelin truck tire site
    http://truckus.webmichelin.com/tires/18/overview1.gif

I have some images on my HDD of the actual tires, it appears I deleted that webshots album or it disapeared.

here is a guy that bought some for his Ford Bronco from Quebec Canada and seems to be trying to start importing them

Re: Are there bigger tires for 16\" rims

Hey Sandman those XML's that Shaggy is talking about retail for around 900.00 per tire new. Avalanche engineering was marketing used ones for 200.00 per tire--but the last time I talked to them they said that they couldn't get any more and didn't seem to think that they would be able to.

The XL's are a little cheaper depending on what size you go with though.

Re: Are there bigger tires for 16\" rims

I know the Michelins are radials. Not trying to compare a radial to a bias. Just comparing the aspects of two different tires. The high load range of the michelin makes the sidewall stiff. Swampers aren't as stiff.
