700r4 tranny.............My ATF looks light red on the dipstick, but when I wipe it on a paper towel, the fluid looks almost clear when it soaks in.

It doesn't smell burnt or look dirty, either. Tell me it's just a little trickery......

Otrher than a whack of red wine last night, I'm as clean as a whistle!!!/forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I wonder if this is a sign that the fluid is breaking down a bit. But like I said, the red color on the dipstick disappears when it hits the paper towel........

So does any one have any other opinions? I compared the fluid from my 700r4 in my 83 diesel to the fluid from my K5, and the ATF from my diesel looks th same on the stick but leaves a redder/forums/images/icons/tongue.gif residue on the cloth. The two fluids smell a little different, but neither would qualify as "burnt".....

C'mon, someone has to know what's going on!!!
