moving the atlanta area this summer.looking for links for jobs, housing and 4x4 clubs.thanks
As far as 4x4 clubs, just keep an eye out in this forum, there are trips taking place all the time. NC4x4 is a good place to find out about wheeling trips aswell.
thats gonna be one hell of a move. frozen hell to hot as $h!t hell.
what brings you our way? what type of job are you interested in?
lol its not that cold up here, its in the 40s during the day now. i hate the though of moving down there.way too hot,too many bugs, snakes etc but the wife wants to be there for her daughter so we are moving for a couple years.i currently own a automotive shop.we mostly do body work and 4x4 fab.have worked dealerships and large independants as a manager and a service writer.we are looking for a small 2-3 br house with a garage in the outer areas of atlanta to rent for up to 2 yrs.
For clubs the 2 best are GBR http://www.gbr4wd.com/ and Renegades http://www.renegades.us/ The renegades have more guys that are hard core and have less formal meetings. I used to be a member of the GBR and they are a very active and fun group of people, they are the biggest club in GA(or were, Southern Jeeps might be now). Most trail rides are split between stockish and very modified. But there are a lot of guys in that club that have been wheeling the same "small" truck/jeep for a LONG time and can make someone in a "big" truck look silly.
Generally speaking housing is cheapest on the south side and most expensive on the NE side from GA400 to I85. NW around I75 is the fastest growing area, and one of the fastest growing areas in the country.
Traffic is a nightmare so try to keep work and home close. You might even want to get an extended stay place for the first month you are here. Listen to traffic reports here http://www.wgst.com/main.html or here http://wsbradio.com/
There are lots of car dealers and 4x4 shops in the metro area, but its not my line of work so I can't say which are good or bad. Someone on here can. If you search you could probably find his name. But I don't know him well enough to to just give it to you.
Welcome to the south, The oldest club would be the GBR, they do alot of good things for the sport, but they dont ride much. The newest club (my current club) Off camber, rides all the time. It just depends on what you are into.
BTW, I own and operate a general repair shop in chamblee ga. (north atlanta) , if you still need help finding work, give me a call.
Haha. Im 2 states to the north of Georgia, and it was 90 degrees yesterday. 40's during the day happens only in the middle of winter.....jan-feb around here.
Thanks for posting Gabe, I hoped you would.
