What's the best electrode to use for putting mild steel to cast iron? IE, truss bars to center section?

Center section should be ductile cast...7018 would work for that.

I tend to use superglue myself[IMG]!!!!
I was sort of paying attention to the POR board this past week and there was a huge discussion on this very topic. ON other things, I would like to say all is fine, but I called JD2 yesterday and they told me they have no record of my order, so I called M-Tech, he must be at V2R cause all I got was answering machine. Hopefully I get some answers on Monday or I'll have to open the can.

You know, that's kind of funny - it's been held on with RTV for the last week while I've been fitting and grinding[IMG] Bummer on the bender - I was expecting my 'cage to be delivered by next weekend!!

Are the steering knuckles (axle side) ductile cast too? They are welded on to the tube, so I'm sure you can weld on 'em, but with what? Can you use a MIG on it? If so, What wire/gas combo?

Pugs, I don't know if this helps at all, but thats never stopped me before...so...I've got a drag raceing buddy who spun a axle tube on the rear 12-bolt, it was a Chevelle with a 4-link. Anyway, they rotated the tube back in place, filled in the plug welds, then they carefully TIG welded the tubes to the center section. My buddy said it took forever to finish it. They welded a 1/4, let it cool (I.E. had a beer), than another 1/4" and cooled..(beer). It held up for years without any problems.

Hopefully Monday I will have answers. Right now with 24 hours of school and 40 hours of work, I only have part of Thursday and Friday to do anything. I have Thanksgiving off so I'm planning on getting it awn with some new 1.75" nerf bars and hopefully a rear prerunner bumper with removable tire carrier before the roadtrip of death in December.
