ATTN: ALL CK5 USERS NEW& OLD !!

Discussion in '1973-1991 K5 Blazer | Truck | Suburban' started by **DONOTDELETE**, Sep 10, 2000.

Well ladies and gentlemen it is time to come together and help out Steve Fox the owner of CK5 !! It has come to our attention that we have surpassed our bandwidth limit and the only answer is to find a new host and come up with more advertisement to bring in more revenue for the site. I e-mailed Steve last night to ask what us as members could do to help and he basically said "Thanks for the offer though"!! I believe we can help out Steve and keep CK5 rocking on into the new year !! Here are a few things we need to make happen:

(1)Stop!! e-mailing Steve with questions and pictures!!

    (2)Stop!! e-mailing Steve with "Why can't I log-in" type questions!!

This one is touchy, as we all want on CK5 and want on now, but I have found that if you wait it out or try a few different ways like, drop the www., or add the www., or even go into the forum instead of the start page you can get in still.

(3)Write down you username and password when you sign-up or suck it up when you forget.

I have found that the site usually fixes itself within the hour or at most the next day !!

(4)Be patient and don't jump the gun, bombbarding Steve with questions and problems.

(5)If you know "any" business small or large that may need or want to advertise then drop them an e-mail and the link to Steve's advertising info which is: http://www.coloradok5.com/advertise.shtmlCK5 must have revenue to stay in operation !!

Steve , give us some stats from the site to help draw advertisers to CK5, such as users, hits, current advertisers, ect.., this may be helpful!!

Please help us all out by cutting things to a minimum !! This will probably be the most important thing that will help out Steve as he quests to locate a new host and revenue for his site !!

Here is the e-mails that motivated me to do this !!
    Steve,
I am sorry to here about the bandwidth problem. Is there anything us members can do to help. We could maybe get a kitty together monthly. How much are we talking about? I am willing to help in anyway I can !! Your site is well used by myself and many others, so we would like to see it keep on going !! I couldn't imagine peeling off my window stickers !!
    Harvey(BigBurb)

And Steve replied with this modest reply !!

    BigBurb,
Don't peel off those stickers, I'm not going anywhere yet. I do need to go through the hassle of finding another host, and I am not looking forward to that. I would rather just focus on getting more advertisment now, I get slammed every day with questions and pics and I can't login and I am having problems with this and that, I need to ignor those for a while and focus on revenue I think. Thanks for the offer though.
    Steve

Keep up the great work Steve, we are all pulling for you !! Anything to help out at anytime !!

    well stated Bigburb.

Steve... we love this place and will probably never leave. If you have to ignore all of us for a while to work on the more important stuff (and it really is more important) then go for it. we support you and the stuff you do for us no matter what.

Thank's guys, I shouldn't have used the word "ignor" I just need to focus on the behind the scenes things here for a while and get it under control. The site is going through "growing pains" right now, which is good, just need to prepair things for the future growth, 14 months ago this site was just an idea.

That's ck5's land address from the "Re: How many of us would like to join the United Four Wheel Drive Association as a club?" post.

Sidenote for STEVE, on some of the forms you've used 80126 as your zip code. I checked with usps.com and it says thats a none existant zip and that your zip should be 80129. This was found on the mail-in order form for the ck5 stickers and also in a few forum posts.

Just a question, and I don't know jack about 'bandwidth'. But, a noticed that alot of folks have little pics in there signature blocks, and such. Would cutting back on those help any? I was thinking of starting one, but I'll hold off if it'll help out. ???

Something that came across my mind was what if Steve signed up for all advantage or another one of those programs, and a bunch of us signed up and put Steve down as our referral, and used it until Steve got everything worked out. I know you can get a good bit of money using those programs if you have a ton of referrals. Just a though.

My position is we send Steve a check to help out like we did when he wanted to buy this message board. That will keep him from taking out of his pocket for now and gives him time to find new advertisers. Tell us what you think Steve. If I can find your address again I'll send $20 off to ya this week. Thanks for the great site!!

It's not the disk space that is a problem, it is the traffic.

    Steve:

Can you tell us how much Gigabytes/Terabytes is this site moving each mont? Maybe I can help you hunt for a new host. And as I told you, I own practically 4Gb/month of transfer. We can put that to good use without the need of money.

Also, I've seen other forums assign moderators to help with the administration of the forum/site. Maybe you can assign a person in charge of reading all those emails that are keeping you busy right now. I know MANY of us are more than willing to help.

Last month CK5 used over 21 gig of bandwidth, that number is so high that people think I have a porn site.
