apparently they only put 3.1 and 3.4 in these cars, hmm..

    is this true ?

what all years were MPFI like this 92 ?

    will a 3.4 readily swap in place of a 3.1 ?

is chevy v6 FWD bellhousing same as pont olds buick bellhousing ?

    thanks for anything

    I don't think so....

    The 3.1 is a stroked version of the older 2.8 and so it's a 60* Chevy V6.

The 3.8 is basically a Buick motor - which is a 90* V6 and shares a bellhousing bolt pattern w/ Olds and Pontiac (B.O.P pattern).

If this is the case, the motors have virtually nothing in common.... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

i was told anything under 4.3is 60 degree, well besides the 250 and 230 and such

IE you cannot mount anything under 4.3on a v8 or strasight six bellhousing

    so what gives ?

    thanks

Not true... The Buick 3.8 is a 90* that dates back to the early sixties when it was available as a 225 cid odd fire in Buick Specials. But again... it's not the same bolt pattern on the bell housing as the chevys...

Agreed. (allthough, I'm not sure about the bell-houseing bolt pattern, not my area.)

ok, well its 60 degree bolt pattenr anyways, i dont think FWD ones are same dela as RWD ones, i dontthink the olds 3.8 are the same deal as the old buick v6 things, AND according ot junk yards, ALL the FWD 3.8's of all the divisions of GM are same thing and bolt in same

also soemthing is misunderstood here somewhere or other, the old 3.8's were ued in the old RWD malibus and such, they are different than the 80s and 90s FWD stuff.,

anyways, does the 90's MPFI 3.1L have interference head to pistion design or not ?

imight just need to only replace timing set and be good to go,i assume that 3.1 bend valves when timing set breaks

is this true or false ? i was told false a minute ago over on GM forums http://discussions.gmforums.com/showthread.php?p=369245&goto=postid

    thanks
