ATTN: Southern CK5\'ers

To all CK5'ers in the TN area.I would like to organize a k5 run at a local offroad park called Wheeling in the country in summertown,TN.I have been wheeling there for 2yrs.They have trails for every kind of rig from mild to wild,it is the birthplace of the hybrid.they are just coming off of the biggest run ever on new years day of over a thousand trucks. The have a 100x80 heated pavillion with bathrooms and showers, plenty of room for camping or RV's.All trails are fullsize friendly.I know the owner very well and I will speak to him about special rates.I assure you a great time will be had by all.Anyone interested in attending,or anyone in my area who would be interested in helping to organize should email me at:

hotrodk5@hotmail.com

Here is the offroad parks web site,it does not show everything they have yet because it is new so check back for updates.

Looks like a lot of mud. Any rocks? Where in TN are you? We did Tellico the past two years and a new place might be a good thing. How about WinRock/Coal Creek? It is time to start the ball rolling for this year's CK5 Southern get together.

There is alot of mud,(depending on the weather ),They also have some rocks and trees,(which are also usually covered with slick mud). They have a little bit of everything from easy trails for people without an al out trail rig,to definite body damage, axle breaking,u-joint eating trails and hills, but don't get me wrong it is still not the all mighty Tellico.I have never been to winrock/coal creek.what are they like.

Thanks

hotrod, If you want to orginize a ride, go for it. We need to pick a date & place soon if you want to do it this summer. Most people are busy during the summer, myself included. One word of advise don't plan a ride on a holiday weekend no matter where you have it. BTDT, it can get crowded.
Here is the link to Coalcreek: http://www.coalcreekmining.com/Pictures/DirList.asp There are maps & directions on the site as well. If you are a member of the SFWDA either through a club or as an individual this is where Southern will be having its Summer Convention. I believe MTTR http://www.sfwda.org/acfw/ is hosting the event this year.
Now back to us. From people I have talked to it sound like the place you are talking about has had some improvements lately. However, I only know one person who has ridden there (besides you, of course) Anyone else want to chime in? Where are all you people who were asking agout trails in the SE?
hodrod, you may want to make post on the main board once you get the details worked out. You can PM me if you want help.

There is still interest here! I just started meeting up with a BUNCH of 4x4 people at Hooters every Tuesday night here in Memphis. Some of them have been to Sumertown and thought it was way cool. I can generate some interest with the group when you nail down some details. This is a mixed bunch of rigs but contain several fullsize Chevys including at least 1 K5 other than mine.

Whatever is fine. My wifes birthday is April 10 though so I should make plans that she will enjoy on April 6 and 7. Let's just remember that April showers brings May flowers so the weather may stay wet during April.

hey, are there some easy trails for those of us with no lockers, small tires, and fears about damage to our 4x4?

'88, hodrod will have to give you the info on Summertown, form what I have heard there are trails there that won't bite you. You could probally make it through the Tellico 4&6 loop w/o body damage. Might loose a tail light, but they are cheep. Rocksliders would be a good idea too. I don't want to scare you off, but you need to remember this is a trail not Six Flags, so things are always changing. If it rains it will be different from morning to night. Like I said before: Note for those who haven't been to Tellico "easy" is not a ride to be taken lightly. There is plenty of chalenge on all the trails. If it is raining there is no easy. If you get there and don't want drive your truck you can always ride with someone else. ('88, check your PM)

Thanks, Bigjbear. As for 88, I have never been to this place but am anxious to go. They probably have something for everyone though. Even if it just means tearing it up in the parking lot! lol
