My automatic locking hubs on my 87 GMC truck have started locking on their own when I'm driving. Then when i stop it pops and jolts the truck and unlocks. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

There is one very easy fix: Get Warn Premium Manual Locking Hubs. Auto hubs are notoriously unreliable and have too many parts.

GET THEM OFF OF THERE!!!!!! Trust me. Mine started doing the same thing and it ended up costing me. They locked at about 80mph on the turnpike one morning. WHEN THEY START TO GO BAD THEY ARE DANGEROUS!!!
Get a set of manual hubs and change them. They aren't that hard to change and will save you in the long run. I lost a bunch of pretty good parts when mine locked. Almost put me into a concrete wall.
