automatic to manual conversion?

    i have a 83 gmc 3/4 ton 2wd with 4spd manual trans i would like to convert my 81 sub from auto with turbo 350 and np208 can i use the trans out of the 2wd truck? will it work with the np208 how much work is putting all the pedals from my donor truck into the burb? any help would be great /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/burb.gif

    The 2WD version 465 has a long 35 spline output with a fixed yoke. The np 208 for a SM 465 uses a 32 spline output, and the 465 for the 205 uses a 10 spline output (most common, switched to 32 spline in later years) To use the tranny you'd need to swap out the mainshaft. No reason for the pedals and stuff not to work though.

    Just find a 465/205 or 465/208 combo and you'd be in good shape...then of course you'd need to modify the drivelines.

    best route is to get a matching tranny and transfercase for simplicity
    the pedals will be a fairly easy job
    I would go hydro clutch and get the pedal assembly from an 85+ as it is a nice system.
