I've just had a sinking realization. I copied someone's iTunes collection for ahem, short-term evaluation purposes, and now have four times the music I used to. I'm sitting at almost 20 gigs. :woot: Well, theres a lot of CRAP in there, so I'm weeding it out, and find... that... well...

    I like some country music.

There, I said it, kill me now.

X2 IMO the best country is coming out of Austin TX not Nashville. Check out www.galleywinter.com for some free samples and discussion forums

Right on!! Nashville sucks for the most part, Texas Country is better.

Check out an artist named Aaron Watson. His music is awesome.

lived in the country all my life and until high school, it was the only music. there was no such thing as rap or rock or any of that. country was it and everybody loved it. the real suprise was when I found out that I like rock and metal. looks funny when a big truck rolls up blasting mushroomhead and a guy in wranglers and camo shirt jumps out and says howdy.:doah: :haha:

Country music will create some bad sectors on your drive. I understand it gives you bad breath as well.

open your mind!..next thing you know, you'll be watching HEE HAW!!

Congratulations, unless its "mainstream" country your starting to like!.(thats the stuff they play on the radio--its not really country,or very good 95% of the time)..there is a LOT of different country music..

You have the "mainstream" stuff, like Kenny Chesney,Tim Mcgraw,Garth Brooks,Brooks and Dunn, and many teen age girls singing syrupy love songs,etc..but a few artists are good, like Brad Paisley, and some of the newer artists like Josh Turner are more "traditional"..

You have Texas Dirt Country,Alternative Country,Christian Country,Traditional Country,"Hot New Country" (mainstream in disguse!),and Folk Country, and some artists like Montgomery-Gentry and Charlie Danies, that are southern rock/country..also Billie Jo Shaver,Cross Canadian Ragweed, and a few others ..

I gag when I hear the same 10 artists on the radio repeatedly, when 90% of the artists you never hear on the radio are WAY more talented, and have songs with meaning, and not just mushy lovey-dovey crap..

I've been hoping that a new station would come on the air here, and play the classic stuff like Johnny Cash and George Jones, and some bluegrass, rather than the same lame top 40 "hits" and artists repeatedly..

BTW--I'm going to see George Jones sunday!--should be a good time,it'll be my first time to see him live..:D

Don't be ashamed to admit you like some country music..my brother in law was always a country music HATER in the first degree..but when he changed jobs, and his new boss only wanted COUNTRY on the radio,he soon realized he LIKED a lot of the songs!..and when he decided to watch videos, his eyes popped when he saw Faith Hill,Lee Ann Rimes,Sara Evans, and some of the other "hotties"!..:wink1:

I found it hard to believe HE could be "converted"..but he's liking it more and more, especially when I turn him on to angelic voices like Rhonda Vincent,Alison Krauss,Suzy Bogguss, and Kathy Mattea--artists you rarely hear on any radio station now..he likes some of the "mainstream" stuff too, that's what got him hooked..but now he's realizing the best artists don't hardly get radio airplay,at least here anyway..

So long as it doesn't involve you somehow discovering you enjoy catching, sounds good...

Me too, country isn't all that bad. I am more of a rock/metal fan but I sure don't mind country one bit. My sis moved out to Texas for college (freshman year!) so she is spoiled with real country. lol

You should . Its an influence on many of the people who play music you already like . Its an integral part of Rock and Roll ( country + blues = rock and roll {simplified} ) :D
