Dawn(my wife)and I would like to thank everyone for their support, prayers, calls, love and time during Zachari's(my 8 year old son) chemotherapy. It has been a hard one to swallow, but we have endured it all and made it !! YES I SAID "MADE IT" !!! This is the end of his chemotherapy !!! We were informed today to stop all chemo and they would schedule Zachari's last LP(spinal tap) and bone marrow test within the next couple of weeks. Following those tests we will have a follow-up exam in 30 days to get the results of those tests and check him out one last time. If all that goes well then they will schedule the surgery date to remove his port ("CHARLIE" as we have always called it where he gets his I.V. chemo through a central line under his skin) within the next month. WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO IS ALL WE CAN SAY !!! And of course we are all scared to death of what lies ahead!!! This all started on 13 November of 1999 with his diagnoses of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and it's been a long time coming to hear of the END !! Zachari has been in remission since 20 November 1999 and we hope and pray that he stays that way for the 5 years when he'll be called "CURED" !!!! We will continue to be seen at the Pediatric Oncology Clinic for follow ups through the years to come, but WE ARE DONE !!! Thanks again from the Casteel Family !! A special thanks to White Knight(Mike)and Laketex(Bryan) for support in the early times !!
