axle endplay

    how much axle end play should there be(if any).just finished my back brakes seems as if someone decided the extra parts the had left wernt that important.good thing i had and extra rearend that still had all the parts i could rob off of them.

    Now that I look it up, it doesn't matter what axle it is.

    0.0254mm to 0.254mm or 0.001 to 0.010 inch. end play

    ok i guess i figured it shouldnt be as much as it was.i belive its a 1/4 ich or more,i didnt think i was going to have to mesure

    blazen91, it looks like you switched the mm with inches. 1/4 inch = 6.35mm, not .254mm
    I'm sure I had closer to 1/4 inch play when I redid my seals and brakes last. So far so good. .001 to .010 of an inch isn't very much at all. I hope that spec is for brand new instalation. (GM 12bolt)

    That was what the GM factory shop manual said!
    And 1/4inch= .250 inch

    Okay, now I understand what you meant. The "?" after the word 'wrong' in your last post threw me off. Looks like I better double check my rear axles.
