What is a reasonable price for a dana 44 and 12 bolt, both with 3.73's and are open.

I have that same ? because I got a set that I want to unload and some people were telling me that about $200+/- for each is a good price, but they weren't too positive. I have thought about calling a junk yard and seeing what they would get for them. Good luck.

Let us know what you hear. I will be selling (hopefully) my 3.73 rear 12 bolt with Auburn posi (all new bearings, etc) and my 3.73 10 bolt front set in the next couple of months.

The last 2 12-bolts and 1 10-bolt that I bought from junkyards cost $250 to $300 each, with a 90-day warranty. I'd expect to pay less in a private transaction. $200 doesn't sound bad for a stock rear.

BlazzinOR, I'd hold out for considerably more for your axle. Perhaps in the $4-500 range since it's already set up with the posi and new bearings.

I don't know about the going rate on front ends.

The going rate around here seems to be about $250 for the more common axles (front or rear 10-bolts, rear sf or ff 14 bolts, etc.), with a low of $100 and as high as $600 (I think the guy got mad when I laughed at him.....).

Always expect to pay more from the Bone Yard. Got quoted once for a 14b FF at $1000.00. The thing wasn't even rebuilt. I just laughed took off. Private Sellers are your best bet. Always comb through your local classifeds (local because shipping would be outrageous!) I found a guy with a matching set 14B FF/Dana 44 w/ 3.73's. He wanted $400 for the set. Didn't end up getting them cause they were too far to ship. I'm picking up a 14B FF next week for $100. If the price is too steep... just have patience. Hope this helps.

    BLAZE IT UP!!!

Yeah, I've always blown the gears on daily driver rigs and needed an axle with the correct gear ratio on a "right now" basis. So I was at the mercy of the local junkyard. [IMG] If you have time to look around, you can find better deals from private sellers. Some of them just want to clear out room in the garage! [IMG]

I found a junkyard here that would sell me two 12bolt front/rear axles out of a 1970 Blazer for $250.00 each.. and they will remove them for me if I were interested.
