I have an 82 k5 Blazer with 350 bored over .030, 700r4 with Jr shift kit, headers and custom 2.5" exhaust with 32x11.5, 15 rims and 10 bolts front and rear with 3.73. Want to swap in Dana 60 and 14 bolt with 4.56. How will this effect power band is it a good idea? I have found a complete 60 with 4.56, disk brake, 4.56 gears for $400 and a complete 14 bolt, drum brakes, 4.56 gears for $600. Both do not have lockers, about 600 miles on them, do not know spline count or if the 14 is SF or FF. Is this a good price? Thanks in advance

I paid $350 for my s/f 14blt. I was told that they usually go for over $1200. This was stock, and currently have a $350 set of tsm caliper hardware on it. Thats not including the money for the calipers.

the Dana 60 is what you are getting the real deal on. a good d 60 frontend is rare now and can cost upwards of 1000-1200 bucks. the 14 bolt is more common, so therefore doesnt usually cost as much as a d 60 front, but that sounds like a good price to me. Anyone else?

As far as the gears go... My 90 came stock w/ 3.73. It now has 4.56 with 36" tires (FF 14-Bolt & Dana60). This combination of gears and tires brings the truck back to stock as far as speedo/rpm goes (well +/- 1%) Running 4.56 and 32's will give you great low end power and perfect for the trails, but you may top out early on the highway.
