    axles under a \'74 C-10 4x4

Anyone have a remote guess on what type of axles I might find under a truck of this year?

Any educated guesses would be great.

C10 would have an independant front and a Corp 12 bolt rear w/5 lugs
K10 would have a Dana 44 front and Corp 12 bolt rear w/6 lugs

c-10 means 2wd. But since you are saying 4x4, it is a k-10.

    Previous post is right.
I think it will have the external hub d44. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Sorry about the C/K screw up. Next time I will just play dumb and say 1/2 ton PU. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Assuming that it has the Dana44 and 12 bolt. I know the 12 bolt is better that the 10 bolt I have currently. My question though, Is the Dana 44 a better front axle than the 10 bolt I currently have under my 85?

How would I tell for sure that the truck has a Dana up front?

The Dana 44 is marginally better than the 10 bolt up front. Not enough to warrant swapping unless you need it to match the gear ratio with the 12 bolt when you swap it in /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
