This is when your wheels get a grip and the axle tries to go the opposite direction that the wheels are turning.
Causing the springs to load and unload giving you the dreaded wheel hop.
Blocks in the rear are a big factor in this as they give the axle more leverage.
Straight liners use some sort of traction aids but on a 4x4 that limits the amount of flex.
I hope that makes some sort of sence.

I had it on my last rig and it bites! What happens is the axle wraps and builds energy and snaps back to where it belongs. Which will cause a hop. Thats the best way to describe it that I can think of. I had an extreme case of it and I would close the slip yoke on the drive shaft closed and it would SLAM my T-case! I put in stiffer springs and it cured it. I hate to admit this but I had 8 in. blocks in the rear which is what caused the prob, in my case.

But basicly what sorta happens to describe it and make a mental picture is the axle will start to move and drive away, before the rig begins to move.

This is one of those things I know what it is and how it works but cannot describe very well.

"for every action, there is an equal and opisit reaction"
If you move a 4000+ lbs truck with some 3000 ft/lbs of torque applied by the tires rotating (from the drivers side) counter-clock-wize than the axle houseing is going to "want" to move clock-wize with the same force. The pinion gear will want to clime the ring gear and bring the rest of the houseing with it. This "wraps" the leaf springs into a S shape up to a point, eventualy, the stored energy in the spring will over-come the traction and "brake free". Causeing the tire to "hop".

    SS, now thats quality[IMG]

The tires hook up good and if you have a locker its worse, but the pinion gear tries to climb the ring gear sometimes causing the pinion gear to snap off, or chew up the ring gear for those of you still with 1/2 ton running gear.

Never been stuck, just temporarily delayed.
