After nearly 5 years not doing anything but work, the Lodge, charities and spending way too much time on the K5 site...(kidding) I went on vacation to Virginia and the outer banks. Spent three days with a fishing pole in my hand on a dock with plenty of cold beverages to drink...no phone, radio, beeper, pc....caught fish...got burnt, blistered my ears had to get a straw hat. Throughly enjoyed myself. The Blazer, with the new 2" lift, Ranch 9000's and 33.12.50 made the trip in great fashion, although the hills of West By God Virginia proved to be much of a challange. It appreas the old 305 just is not what it used to be. Had to crawl up the hills in second gear at 45mph. What really got to me was when a heep or donco passed me going uphill....but I made up for it going 80 downhill and passing them back...
Gents...thanks for all the kind words....

nice to get the hell out of dodge for a change, eh?

now you'll have to dedicate yourself to getting caught back up on this message board! oh, and i guess at work, and at the lodge, and at charities, too.

welcome back Eagle, I'm going on vacation now for a week. Going to be at the redwoods around the 5th and 6th of July. Unfortunately I won't have my Blazer as it won't run in temperatures over 70 degrees right now, we'll be in my wife's new Altima

well this went to show me that what some of you have said about gearing is probably right. When I went to the 33's it has had an effect on the ability to go up inclines, second gear is way too small (55mph@4000rpm)and when it dropped back into third, it was too tall (55mph@2000rpm)it just bogged down..I actually got to hate driving in the mountains and not being able to stay up with traffic...you know it is bad when old ladies pass you going up hill and let you know you are number one...
So time to retire the 305 with 122,000 and get a 330hp 350 crate for it. I would ask for help deciding what gears to go in as well...thank you Gentlemen...

Hey Eagle, good to "see" you again! For gears, I think 3.73 or 4.11 is good. I've got 3.73's in mine with 33's, and my 106,000mi 305 does OK.
