I just put my holly truck avenger on the 83 blazer, "has a 350. sm465 combo"

well the truck really grawls at me now when I slow down, mostly in 2nd from 20-25 mph and down or so.

    bad/good?

I have 3 inch headers I plan to put on it but now I am woried they will be too much, they are just cheapy headers with a 3 inch flange.

3inch collectors is normal , tube size on primary tubes is what matter. Any off the shelf header is better than manifolds. Just use better quality ones , or check the welds and repair as neccessary. Don't worry about growl , it will be better after you open up exhaust some. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

Sounds like normal compression braking to me. I can't even get mine into second at 20 mph slowing down...

bring it over here and let me drive it. I will tell you if it is normal.

    Harley

p.s. stay with a smaller exhaust on the SBC. 2.25-2.5" or so pipe.

1 5/8" is the largest you should go with for the primary head tubes for a small block. Any bigger you'll lose your bottom end.
