A worker was killed at the rail car repair shop here. It seems that he was riding on a tank car and fell off between the rails and was ran over almost cutting him in half at the waist. Somehow he survived long enough to be flown to Pittsburgh.

OUCH!!! The worst part about that is that he didn't die instantly and had to suffer from the immense pain of having his legs cut off like that. I wouldn't be able to stand going like that.

The body does strange things in extreme trauma cases. He most likely didnt feel anything.

that's probably not nearly as bad as getting coupled up between two rail cars. you're still alive until they separate the cars, then its all over. one of my neighbor's friends actually talked to his wife on the phone and smoked a cigarette before they uncoupled the cars.

    That's some bad business.

I've heard similar stories about a guy backed over by a howitzer track. Alive until they rolled it off him. Probably just as bad for the guys on site with him.

Probably no pain, but knowing that you are about to go would be no cake walk either. Cricket, you are right, it is probably worse for the others on site.
