OK guys, let me tell you the latest episode to this story... this one is actually my fault, but I feel extremely blessed!

I had the leveler for the hoist that needed fixed this morning, and I am not a very good welder (actually I don't weld at all)...

I got my father to come help me, and I left the leveler on the engine so we were welding over the engine compartment. when I disconnected the fuel lines down by the frame I didn't cap them in any way because it wasn't leaking, but that was before I dropped the wheels off the front end.

se we get welding up the leveler, and the next thing I know my rig is no fire!!! evidently when I dropped the front tires the front was dropped so those lines started leaking. well it should of been leaking all night (coming out at a good rate. anyway we had taken the fire extenguisher (sp?) out of the shop and put it in the tractor during haying season so buy the time I scramble in both houses, the shop, and couldn't find any extinguishers I finally drug a hose out there. in the mean time my father had gotten the fire on the floor out, but the fuel lines had started to burn. we got them out with water, and there was no damage.

that fire should have had a LOT more gas on the floor considering it should have been leaking all night, and it is a miracle the lines didn't catch fire quicker & harder and gotten to the tank.

I am extremely blessed that nothing real bad came about. needless to say I went I bought a BUNCH more exstinguishers and I'll never be caught in that situation again. I will also never disconnect a fuel line that I do not cap.

Jeff - may the force be with you

I think you need to write a book about this whole ordeal. Might be a best seller and make you enough money to retire!!!!! At least you are making progress on the truck though.

I am glad to hear that you and your dad are okay.

Too bad you cant use the "Force" to put the engine in. If I decide to do an engine swap in mine I will wait till I replace the front end so I will have plenty of room to maneuver.

When you finish make sure you make a big post so everyone can congratulate you!
Maybe send you a beer or two cause you deserve it.

Sheesh..you sure know how to make a guy feel blessed... Ever think of taking up a safer hobby, like, say, stamp collecting???

9. Dear Lord, your Karma is in need of some serious assistance. You need to find a little old lady that needs help across street, BAD. I am glad to here no one or nothing on your truck was damaged. I really think I would have to take a day off to regroup.

Hey Dune... Don't believe everything ya see on t.v [IMG] LOL... No seriously... gas is not explosive... gas is extremely flamable(sp?) which means it will ignite/burn very easily. Now the gas vapor is what becomes explosive. Thus if you must weld or use flame near a fuel tank (which I definetly don't suggest) make sure it is full so you have less room for vapor to form.

That's true - only vapor burns. Liquid is inert - that's why they use foam on gasoline spills - the soap "film" doesn't let vapors through it.

well guys thanks again... I'm glad everybody seems to have a bit of humor regarding all this because it is one of the few things that keeps me going.

I don't really have the luxury of taking any time off because the engine is bad in my running vehicle, and I gotta have something to drive. man if one of my kids got hurt I'd be SOL...

anyway, besides my truck not burning completely up (and having absolutley no problems from the incident that I can find, I had something else happen today. I found a mechanics apprentice this is outta work because his boss we in the can for drug possession (same guy that was suppose to be doing my vehicle - thank heavents it isn't in his hands anymore)... he is going to come help me until I got this project finished.

Jeff - may the force be with you
