    Just a few more things...
After I have the valve job done and I replace the heads, could the increased pressure in the bad cyls cause the rings to fail? I guess i mean is a $180 valve job worth it on this engine? Problem is, don't have the $ to do much more than a valve job and need a vehicle to get to school this winter...I would throw up if I had to drive a little car this year!

i think that is a complete 'wives tale'
the trick is to get a good valve job not some clown that knurls the guides on you. i built a 350 for a guy with $$. new stainless valves complete comp cams valvetrain 1.94 camel heads, the machine shop ripped him and knurled the guides. thing ran terrible burned oil from day one. finally we rip it apart to see WTF and discover the guides. he went with world SRs just from fear of machinists, thing ran sweet without the oil in the chamber.

frank discussion with the machinist explaining that you want NEW GUIDES and that knurling them will NOT be accepted. check the work PRIOR to payment.
