bad short

    every time i hit my rear window deffoger, the truck about stalls then is fine. is this an easy fix? can the whole shootin match be pulled out? HELP!

    Hook up a voltmeter to the battery and see what happens when you turn on the defogger. Sounds like the voltage is dropping so low that the engine isn't getting enough electicity to run properly. Could be that you alternator is not working as good as it should.

    I have a bad short as well. All mine does is drain the battery over night to the point that it wont start. The battery holds a good charge on its own, and the alt is working fine. But when I leave the battery hooked up over night, its dead in the morning.

    Might try pulling fuses one at a time for overnight, see which circuit it is. Can't hurt, easy to do.

    <font color=blue>OneLeft check your ciggerette lighter/radio memory circuit. This is a constant 12v and shorts out a lot.</font color=blue>

    excuse my stupidity, but how would the lighter tie into the defroster, and what would i need to do?
