I am in the process of replacing the ball joints and one of the adjusting sleeves was welded in with rust. I cut several slits in it and broke it out without damaging the knuckle threads but they are covered with rust and scale. Does anyone know where I might find a tap large enough to clean up the threads and what size and thread count I would be looking for? I can't get the new sleeve to thread in very well.

Oh and I got a reminder to always check things over! Took this axle out of a truck that was on the road until I got to it. When I pulled the front diff cover today (after driving the truck for several weeks - I'd just slapped it in 'cause I didn't have time to go through it) about 1 cup of oil dripped out /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif
It all looks good in there, I guess I got lucky. Good thing I haven't been wheelin' lately /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

If ya didn't drive with the hubs locked it wouldn't matter anyway.

Sorry I can't help you with the adjusting sleeve thing...I'll investigate at work when I go back on friday if nobody else helps you.
