basic pay for welder (yearly)

    im still tryin to make up my mind on a profession,i can get in with the firedept. here in st.pete or i could be a welder both I like,but the pay rate is what Im concered with.when I move out into the sticks I've seen that the firefighters make $8.50 an hour!! /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif thats what I was making at wal-mart! but a welder could be a good way to make some money,plus make some stuff for my truck /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif anyway whats the basic starting pay yearly for a welder? anyone know??

    It varies quite a bit depending on what you're welding...I've seen welders working for under $10 an hour cdn$$ to over $30 an hour cdn$$.

    Obviously the more experience you have the more you'll make, but generally it's not a bad wage.

    The welders in our shop make from 12-17 an hour in Denver

    Certified welders around here make 18 to 22 bucks an hour around here. Working in the mines and on drill rigs and stuff like that.

    I was making about $13 an hour here in IL. If youre certified you can make more. Around here the unions get payed big bucks.

    Why not work for the FD in order to have great benefits and weld on the side!
