I'm re-doing my K5's electrical system because of diesel swap, and going to install main switch for the battery.Question is:which wire do I install it?I remember reading somewhere that it should be on negative wire so there won't be any sparks when power is turned on/off.But then radio would clear it's memory so it needs its own ground wire. But wouldn't it ground the whole electrical system. After all, radio has steel frame, and when mounted to dash, radio frame contacts with trucks body...
    What about alarm system?
If I install the main switch to a positive wire, then I only need memory wire for radio and power wire for alarm straight from the battery?

I would put it on the positive side of the batery and provide an unswitched wire to the radio/alarm. Speedway Motors has a pretty cool switch to do this:

Yeah,I guess I use the positive wire. But I'm gonna use this "normal" switch because I have big 180ah battery in rear of my K5 on a custom made cradle. So the wires go past front seats so I can mount the switch on the floor.
